Prof. Ayman Ibrahim Baess, MD, PhD.

Dr. Baess is an Professor of Chest Diseases, Alexandria University, Egypt since July 2022. He is also the director of Interventional Pleurology and thoracoscopy unit, department of chest diseases, Alexandria main University hospital (AMUH). Dr. Baess is the director of house-officers and residency program in department of Chest diseases, AMUH. Professor Baess has an active interest in pleural diseases, lung cancer, interstitial lung diseases, sarcoidosis, pulmonary infections and tuberculosis, bronchoscopy and medical thoracoscopy.

Professor Baess is the author of many publications in peer-reviewed journals with more than hundred citations. His h-index “Google Scholar” is 6. He actively participated in many multinational clinical drug studies. He led the scientific committee of many conferences that were locally held in Egypt. Dr. Baess regularly attends the international chest and respiratory congresses and many skills workshops worldwide. Dr. Baess is actively participating in continuous medical education (CME) programs both nationally and internationally.

Professor Baess is a member of many national and international chest and respiratory societies like European Respiratory Society (ERS), American College of Chest Physician (ACCP), American Thoracic Society (ATS), British Thoracic Society (BTS), World Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology (WABIP) and Egyptian Scientific Society of Bronchology (ESSB). He serves on international scientific assemblies in thoracic oncology (TO), Microbiology, Tuberculosis & Pulmonary Infections (MTPI) and critical care (cc) in American Thoracic Society (ATS).

Dr. Baess is currently a scientific consultant of the National scientific committee for fighting covid19 in Alexandria and Matrouh Governorate. Professor Baess is holding scientific responsibilities for all isolation hospitals, chest hospitals and fever hospitals in Alexandria and Matrouh Governorates. Dr. Baess is the head of the scientific committee for fighting Covid19 in Alexandria University Hospitals. Professor Baess is a member of the committee of ministry of higher education for fighting Covid-19.
